How do you assess the situation in the industry, have you noticed any new trends, surprising news lately?
The industry is stable. We have reports that the fast food industry is experiencing declines. The demand for products of this type is falling, but fresh, good bread is back in favour. The customer starts to save on additional products but wants to enjoy the quality of the bread. In addition, Ukrainian citizens in Poland have a strong tradition of eating bread and appreciate this ordinary, but good bread very much. This is also a new customer. We even hear about bakers from Ukraine who are trying to open their businesses here.
So you are confident about the future of the industry and business stability?
Yes, definitely, the knowledge gained over the last 30 years tells me that for the next 10-20 years the industry will be stable. Although today we are dealing with a paradox because, despite the increase in the price of bread, its sales are growing. It is also influenced by the quality of the product, customer awareness, but also habits and emotions. After all, it is our “daily bread”.
Let's talk about Magorex. Have there been any new products that the company will surprise its customers with?
So there are still ideas on how to improve products and introduce new solutions to the market. How does it feel to be one of the leaders in Europe?
30 years ago, I started with one employee and an outsourced one. I never, ever expected to get to this level. But please remember that this is not only my success. All this would not have been possible without the dedicated people who work with us.
Do you ever think that maybe enough is enough? During these 3 decades there has been a huge developmental leap in Magorex, aren't you tempted to settle down for a moment?
Such a thought never occurred to me. Every day we do our best, and that’s all we focus on. If we don’t invest, we won’t grow. Therefore, investments come naturally, because we want to do what we do as best and smartest as possible. And for there to be development, there must be an investment, simply. We are in constant contact with regular customers, but we are also ready to present ourselves to new contractors. Especially after this post-pandemic time, we want to give a clear signal – that we’re still here, we exist and we are doing well.
